Story of Rukmini and Krishna - True Side | Rukmini Krishna | True Side Krishna Bhakti | Lakshmi Narayan

Here is one of my favourite story of Shri Krishna's life. This story is about Shri Rukmini's love for Shri Krishna and how  LakshmiNarayan in the form of RukminiKrishna got united in Dwapar Yug which is being shared by me. This story is very interesting, I am sure you will love it....

When Sriman Narayan took the form of Shri Ram, Mahalakshmi took the form of Maa Sita and when he incarnated as Shri Krishna, she incarnated as Shri Rukmini.

Jagat Janani Maa Lakshmi, who is the source of inner happiness and prosperity incarnated as Rukmini in the kingdom of Vaidarbh and gave the pleasure of her childhood to king Bhishmak.

On the other hand Shri Hari incarnated from the womb of Mata  Devki and gave the pleasure of his childhood to Mata Yashoda and Nandji. He did many leelas in his childhood, leelas with Ma Yashoda, leelas with his friends, leelas with Srimati Radha Rani ( click here to Read the glories of Shri Radhe ) and gopis and many more. He also killed many demons during his Vraj leela. Shri Krishna then killed Kans and started living in Mathura, and later created the beautiful kingdom of Dwarka.

Srimad Bhagvatam describes Shri Rukmini as the most beautiful woman of Dwaparyug. Her beauty was incomparable, when she would walk, people would faint seeing her beauty.

Her story with Shri Krishna is equally beautiful too !

Story of Shri Rukmini and Shri Krishna :

Princess Rukmini, the beloved Princess of Vaidarbh was the incarnation of Mahalakshmi.

From childhood she heard stories about the leela's of Shri Krishna in Braj and eventually fell in love with him without even having a glimpse of him. She was willing to marry Shri Krishna. Her father King Bhishmak felt the same that there was no other man better that Shri Krishna who is Narayan himself for his beloved daughter. Shri Rukmini's younger brother Rukmikesh too felt the same and wanted Shri Krishna to marry his loving sister.
However, Rukmi, elder brother of Shri Rukmini hated Shri Krishna. To him, Krishna was a mere cowherd who had taken the throne ( though Shri Krishna never in his life became the king of any state) and the one who knows how to play tricks on people and fool them. He wanted Rukmini to marry his friend Shishupal who was the king of the Chedi kingdom.

Since Rukmi was the eldest son, it was his choice that dominated. Rukmini was forced and pressurised by Rukmi to marry Shishupal. The date of the marriage was fixed, and celebrations began in Vaidarbh.

But is it possible for Mahalaksmi to marry anyone except her beloved Shri Hari.       Never!!!

Shri Rukmini who was madly in love with Shri Krishna wrote a letter to Shri Krishna confessing her love for him and asking him to rescue her and take her with him. The letter was sent to Shri Krishna by a brahman.

The letter of Shri Rukmini is as follows :

Chapter 52 of Canto 10 in Srimad Bhagavatam (Srimad Bhagavata Purana) talks about the letter written by Devi Rukmini.

Sri Rukmiṇi said [in her letter, as read by the brahmana]

O beauty of the worlds, having heard of Your qualities, which enter the ears of those who hear and remove their bodily distress, and having also heard of Your beauty, which fulfills all the visual desires of those who see, I have fixed my shameless mind upon You, O Kṛṣṇa.

O Mukunda, You are equal only to Yourself in lineage, character, beauty, knowledge, youthfulness, wealth and influence. O lion among men, You delight the minds of all mankind. What aristocratic, sober-minded and marriageable girl of a good family would not choose You as her husband when the proper time has come?

Therefore, my dear Lord, I have chosen You as my husband, and I surrender myself to You. Please come swiftly, O almighty one, and make me Your wife. My dear lotus-eyed Lord, let Śiśupāla never touch the hero’s portion like a jackal stealing the property of a lion.

If I have sufficiently worshiped You by pious works, sacrifices, charity, rituals, and vows, and also by worshiping the demigods, brāhmaṇas, and gurus, then may Gadāgraja come and take my hand, and not Damaghoṣa’s son or anyone else.

Since I will be staying within the inner chambers of the palace, You may wonder, “How can I carry you away without killing some of your relatives?” But I shall tell You a way: On the day before the marriage there is a grand procession to honor the royal family’s deity, and in this procession, the new bride goes outside the city to visit Goddess Girijā.

O lotus-eyed one, great souls like Lord Shiva hanker to bathe in the dust of Your lotus feet and thereby destroy their ignorance. If I cannot obtain Your mercy, I shall simply give up my vital force, which will have become weak from the severe penances I will perform. Then, after hundreds of lifetimes of endeavor, I may obtain your mercy.

Shri Krishna who is antaryami ( he knows all the happenings of the past present and future) was already waiting for Shri Rukmini's letter. As soon as the Brahman read Rukmini's letter to Shri Hari, he once again fell in love with his eternal consort who forever resides in his heart, this time in Krishna swaroop. He spent sleepless nights in love of Shri Rukmini, who was in pain due to her brother Rukmi's forced marriage of her with Shishupal.

He along with Balram, headed to Vaidarbh and rescued Shri Rukmini . He lifted her and made her sit with him on his chariot, and both of them eloped. The soldiers who followed them were retaliated by the powerful Yadav army.

However Rukmi kept following their chariot, until Shri Krishna himself stopped to fight him. In a not a very fierce battle, Krishna easily defeated Rukmi, and was about to kill him.

But before he fould kill him Shri Rukmini fell on Krishna's lotus feet and pleaded him to spare Rukmi's life. Touched by his beloved Rukmini's gesture, Krishna did not kill Rukmi, however he shaved his head to mark Rukmi's defeat.

Rukmini and Krishna were welcomed in Dwarka by Ma Devki and Vasudev and a grand wedding ceremony took place.

The residents of Dwarka were completely devoted to Shri Rukmini and Krishna.

When they both married, people sang the glories of RukminiKrishna and the whole Dwarka shined with the divine presence of Shri Rukmini and Shri Krishna. All the devas came to shower flowers on the eternal couple, nature danced, flowers bloomed.

It was one of most beautiful marriage of Dwapar Yug because Shri LakshmiNarayan in the form of Shri RukminiKrishna married that day

Till today , the letter of Maa Rukmini is chanted by unmarried women to get a loving husband. Such is the glory and divinity of merely the words written by Shri Rukmini for Shri Krishna, so what  say of their love.

Shri Rukmini gave us the example that how a soul should completely surrender oneself to Krishna. When a soul is completely dependent upon Krishna, Shri Krishna comes for our rescue from this material world so that we forever unite with him.

Jay Shri RukminiKrishna 🌺🌼🙏
